The Sikatuna Solar Power Plant, a 45-megawatt (MW) renewable energy project, marked its groundbreaking April 27, 2025, in Bohol, following the recent launch of the 8.4 MWac Tagbilaran-Baclayon Solar Power Plant.
Managed by Bohol Solar Energy Inc. (BSEI), the facility spans 454,636 square meters in Can-agong and Bahay-Bahay, Sikatuna, and will generate 37.884 MWac.
The project includes key components such as a substation, photovoltaic modules area, hazardous waste storage, and roadways. It aims to boost local jobs, reduce emissions, enhance energy security, and support agricultural infrastructure through irrigation systems.
Governor Aris Aumentado and EMB Region VII Director Ma. Victoria Abrera emphasized Bohol’s alignment with its Strategic Change Agenda and its role as the Philippines’ first UNESCO Global Geopark. Attendees included Sikatuna Mayor Justiniana Ellorimo, BSEI representatives, and stakeholders.
The initiative underscores the province’s push for sustainable development and climate resilience.
