CEBU CITY, Philippines — Police Regional Office 7 (PRO 7) seized over 1.9 kilograms of shabu valued at PhP13.3 million and arrested multiple drug suspects in buy-bust operations across Central Visayas in the past 24 hours, authorities said Friday.
PRO 7 chief PBGEN Anthony Aberin credited the success to intelligence-driven efforts and coordination with law enforcement and local communities, aligning with Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr.’s directives under the BIDA anti-drug program.
In Cebu City, police arrested a suspect alias “Odot” on November 12, 2023, confiscating 405 grams of shabu worth PhP2.75 million. In Tagbilaran City, Bohol, a businessman and his accomplice were nabbed on November 13, yielding 355 grams of shabu valued at PhP2.41 million. Another operation in Cebu City’s Barangay Bulacao netted 1,022 grams of shabu worth PhP6.95 million, while a Talisay City raid seized 180 grams valued at PhP1.22 million.
In Panglao, Bohol, a 28-year-old resort worker alias “Jay” was arrested on November 16 with shabu worth PhP17,000 and a 9mm pistol, facing drug and firearms charges amid the Comelec gun ban. In Loboc, Bohol, a 31-year-old unemployed man alias “Fil” was caught on November 15 with 0.6 grams of shabu worth PhP4,080.
All suspects face charges under the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, with some also violating firearms regulations.
