Bohol governor warns Grab drivers of franchise cancellation over booking system violations

Bohol Gov. Aris Aumentado warned Grab drivers in the province Wednesday of possible franchise cancellations after receiving multiple complaints that some drivers were deliberately switching off their apps to avoid bookings and instead soliciting passengers directly to tourist destinations.

Aumentado, speaking on the Dyrd Inyong Alagad Program, said the practice violates Grab Philippines policy and leaves passengers — particularly in Tagbilaran City, Panglao and Dauis — without reliable ride-hailing service.

“There are so many complaints that they are not responsive to clients because they turn off their apps. Others just wait to negotiate fares instead of following the booking system,” Aumentado said.

The governor has asked the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board, through Acting Regional Director Eugenio Ibo, to meet with Grab Philippines to review the situation and consider revoking slots of non-compliant drivers to make way for new applicants willing to follow regulations.

Aumentado noted that several drivers had already been identified for violating the policy and face franchise cancellation, with their slots to be awarded to those on the waiting list.

The provincial government said it will continue monitoring complaints against Grab operators to ensure fair and proper transport services across Bohol.
