A provincial board member has filed a resolution seeking a review of the procurement process at the Bohol Capitol following reports of medicine and supply shortages in Capitol-run hospitals.
Board Member Mutya Kismet-Macuno filed the measure Tuesday before the Sangguniang Panlalawigan after a newborn died at Candijay District Hospital.
A similar case of infant death was earlier recorded at the New Cong. Natalio Castillo Memorial Hospital in Loon.
Macuno, chair of the Committee on Public Accountability and Transparency, raised concerns over the lack of laboratory supplies and delays in the calibration of medical equipment.
She said the slow procurement process has hampered the delivery of critical medicines and supplies.
She urged fellow board members to review the Capitol’s procurement system and push for reforms to prevent further tragedies.
